Pinterest is for Lovers

I love Pinterest. How about you?

I love creating boards that showcase an aspect of life that I am passionate about, fascinated by, curious about, concerned about or wanting to learn more about. And, for business, I make sure to share my own blog posts and articles and books with prominent links.

Pinterest reminds me of the childhood game of show and tell. We upload or re-pin an image we like and place that onto our Pinterest page. Then other people on Pinterest find those images they resonate with and they re-pin them onto their pages. It is such fun to connect with people I have known in other ways – friends, business associates, internet marketers – and discover that they also like Ted Talks, some of the same famous people, inspirational quotes, tennis, shoes, food art, etc.

My fascination with Pinterest began when I found these breathtaking images of places all around the world that I have never visited, and some that I visited a long time ago. When I look at that board, “Wonders of the World,” no matter how stressed out I am I am instantly transported to another part of the world which brings me back to the joy of being alive. My body almost instantly calms down.

The second board, “Why Do We Love Animals So Much” was created when I saw a beautiful image of a dangerous animal. As I added images of ferocious lions, tigers, gorillas, bears and other animals, I began to find family pictures – mothers with their babies, whole families together, one animal hugging and nurturing another. And I discovered that I am not alone in my sense of love and wonder for these beautiful creatures of God’s world. So many of my Pinterest friends re-pin my animal pins.

At that point I was hooked on Pinterest and my boards began to develop. “Relationship Healing” contains posts from my newest web site, “All About Love” contains images with links to my Kindle books, “Healing Through Love” contains some of my videos. I also have boards that I share with others, such as Raena Lynn’s “Rainbows,” Paldrom Collins’ “Sex Addiction Articles,” and Dotti Berry’s “Pinterest/Media Case Studies and “Favorite Ted Talks.”

And the best part of Pinterest is that we can share each other’s blog posts on our boards. I have “My Blogging Friends” and “Marketing Savvy,” two boards that often feature my virtual friends’ latest blog posts.

Are you using Pinterest yet? What are you waiting for? It is an easy way to connect with friends and colleagues and create real relationships without having to “sell” each other anything. But there is one caveat. Pinterest can become addicting and you can whittle away the hours pinning and re-pinning your personal obsessions.
